- Select one fileChoose a single image, PDF or video in File Explorer. Animated images and audio files are not supported.
- Hold Ctrl and right-clickFlecto opens the blue edit dial. Choose Reduce size, then Target size.
- Set the maximum sizeType the size in MB or drag the slider. Flecto shows the original size so you know where you start.
- Continue and get your copyFlecto saves a new file ending in "- reduced" next to the original, and only when it really fits under your limit.
Good to know
- Images are saved as JPG, or as WebP when they have transparency. Flecto lowers the quality first and only then the dimensions.
- PDFs are rewritten first. If that is not enough, you can allow image-only pages, which removes selectable text and links.
- Videos are re-encoded as MP4 at the bitrate that fits. Video target size is a Flecto Pro tool.
- If the size cannot be reached, Flecto tells you and saves nothing. Your original is never changed.
Questions
Can I compress an image to 100 KB?
Yes. Type 0.1 in the size box. Very small targets lower the quality and can shrink the image dimensions.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The compression runs on your PC.
Is it free?
Images and PDFs are included on the free plan. Videos need Flecto Pro, and the free plan lets you try Pro tools 3 times.
Can I do several files at once?
Target size works on one file at a time. For several files, use the other Reduce size options.
